This Privacy Policy explains how Sophia OS Corp (“Sophia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information in connection with Sophia’s matchmaking services on www.meetsophia.com and our SMS/voice interactions (collectively, the “Service”).
1) Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last Updated” date.
2) Personal Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, information collected automatically, and information we receive in connection with payments and service delivery.
A) Information you provide directly
- Account and application information: name, email, phone number, date of birth, and onboarding details.
- Matchmaking and preference information: relationship goals, preferences, dealbreakers, values, lifestyle inputs, and other compatibility-related information you choose to share.
- Communications: SMS/text messages with Sophia; support messages; and (if enabled) voice call recordings and/or transcripts.
- Feedback: feedback about potential matches, introductions, or your experience.
- Verification information (when needed): proof of age or other verification documentation if eligibility or identity is unclear.
B) Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data (website/app): IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, approximate location derived from IP, and similar usage signals.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 7.
C) Payment information
If you pay for the Service, payments are processed by a payment processor (e.g., Stripe). We receive limited details such as payment status, billing details, and transaction identifiers. We do not store full card numbers.
3) How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide the Service: create and administer accounts, review applications, build compatibility maps, facilitate introductions, and provide customer support.
- Communicate with you: onboarding, service messages, safety notices, and support (including via SMS/voice).
- Safety and integrity: detect and prevent fraud, impersonation, harassment, exploitation, trafficking-related solicitation, CSAM-related indicators, spam, and other policy violations; enforce our Terms and AUP.
- Improve the Service: analyze performance, troubleshoot, and improve workflows (including refining automated systems).
- Billing and operations: process payments, manage subscriptions, and keep business records.
- Legal compliance: comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4) How We Share Personal Information
We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above:
A) Service providers
We share information with vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, customer support tools, SMS delivery, and payment processing). They may process information only on our instructions.
B) With potential matches / introductions
To facilitate introductions, we may share limited information with potential matches (for example, compatibility summaries or non-sensitive details). We aim to minimize sharing and follow your preferences and safety settings.
C) Legal, safety, and enforcement
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, protect safety, prevent fraud/abuse, or investigate and enforce our policies.
D) Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
5) Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or object to certain processing. To make a request, email support@meetsophia.co.
Marketing emails: If we send marketing emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link. Service-related messages may still be sent when necessary.
SMS opt-out: Reply STOP to stop non-essential texts. Some Service functionality may require SMS communications.
6) Data Retention
We retain personal information as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain safety and prevent repeat abuse, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type. Deletion requests are handled subject to lawful exceptions.
7) Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through browser settings, but disabling cookies may affect functionality.
Do Not Track: Some browsers offer “Do Not Track” signals. The Service may not respond to those signals.
